We’re often asked about LifeVac devices during our courses, and we completely understand why many people see the potential benefits. However, we follow the guidance of our awarding organisation, FAIB, which aligns with the current position of the Resuscitation Council UK.
Their advice is clear:
Using (or searching for) a LifeVac device in an emergency could waste precious seconds that would be better spent performing the recommended procedures back blows and abdominal or chest thrusts.
Unless or until the Resuscitation Council UK updates their guidance, FAIB’s position will remain the same, and we will continue to teach best practice in line with current national standards
